Distribution Supervisor

Description Our client in the FMCG industry, is looking to employ a Distribution Supervisor, based in East London.

Requirements:
  • A diploma or degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Proven 1- 3 year’s supervisory experience in a food manufacturing distribution or warehouse environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Certification in FSSC 22000 will be advantageous.
  • Forklift Licence will be advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a customer-focused approach.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Duties:
  • Supervise the receipt, storage, and distribution of goods in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
  • Ensure all products are handled, stored, and transported according to food safety and quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of all finished goods transactions, including stock receipts, transfers, and dispatches.
  • Monitor stock levels to ensure optimal stock availability.
  • Assist the Distribution Manager to ensure proper stock layout for efficient inventory flow and accessibility.
  • Implement and uphold FIFO (First-In, First-Out) practices for product rotation.
  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to FSSC 22000 and health and safety guidelines.
  • Take part in internal and external audits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular stock takes and ensure that discrepancies are investigated.
  • Enforce workplace safety standards in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety drills, and regular inspections.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) by staff.
  • Ensure adherence to occupational health and safety standards, including risk assessments and incident reporting.
  • Provide leadership to the team on the shift by fostering a culture of safety and quality.
  • Train and mentor team members on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Manage staff schedules, workloads, and task assignments to optimize efficiency.
  • Address disciplinary issues promptly and professionally, adhering to company policies.
  • Identify training needs and organize development programs for team growth.
  • Implement strategies to improve productivity and service delivery.
