Our client in the Insurance industry, based in Centurion, is currently looking to employ a Head of Group Procurement (EE).
Please note that this is a hybrid position with the possibility of travel.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Supply Chain Management; a postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
- Professional qualifications such as the Certificate in Advanced Programme in Supply Chain Management or CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) certification are preferred.
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in procurement, with exposure to digital transformation and preferential procurement.
- Solid understanding of B-BBEE legislation and financial sector procurement frameworks.
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage risk and compliance.
- Proven track record in e-commerce or online procurement management is highly desirable.
- Financial Services/insurance sector experience advantageous.
Responsibilities, but not limited to:
1. Strategic Procurement Leadership:
- Lead the development and continuous refinement of procurement frameworks, policies, and processes to align with the Group's strategic objectives.
- Drive the digital transformation of procurement processes, with a focus on automation, data analytics, and enhancing user experiences through digital platforms.
- Implement strategies that optimize the procurement lifecycle, from sourcing to contract management, ensuring alignment with business needs and compliance with regulatory standards.
2. Supplier Relationship Management and Sourcing:
- Identify and manage strategic supplier relationships, negotiating contracts that maximize value, reduce risks, and foster long-term partnerships.
- Lead the sourcing and onboarding of suppliers, ensuring alignment with the Group's procurement policies and B-BBEE requirements.
- Develop a robust supplier database and continuously refine the Preferred Vendor List to enhance supplier performance and meet Group transformation targets.
3. Compliance and Risk Management:
- Oversee the implementation of procurement compliance policies including adherence to B-BBEE standards, the Financial Sector Charter Code, and other regulatory frameworks.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to ensure that procurement activities are compliant with legal, financial, and operational standards.
- Collaborate with business units to ensure procurement activities minimize risks and drive compliance, while supporting transformation initiatives.
4. Digital Procurement and Innovation:
- Lead the Group's digital procurement transformation initiatives, driving the adoption of new technologies and methodologies that improve process efficiency and performance.
- Develop and implement an Online Shop strategy to enhance user engagement, streamline procurement processes, and optimize product/service offerings.
- Conduct market research to stay ahead of procurement trends and technologies, ensuring the Group maintains a competitive edge.
5. Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Utilize advanced analytics to monitor procurement activities, supplier performance, and category management, enabling data-driven decision-making to optimize cost savings and efficiency.
- Provide actionable insights and regular reporting on procurement metrics, supplier performance, and compliance status to senior management and relevant committees.
- Implement continuous process improvements based on data analysis, driving innovation and efficiency within the procurement function.
6. Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD):
- Identify and nurture emerging B-BBEE suppliers as part of the Group's ESD strategy, creating opportunities for supplier growth and integration into the Group's supply chain.
- Lead focused interventions with suppliers and business stakeholders to support enterprise and supplier development targets.
- Ensure that ESD initiatives align with the Group's overall business strategy and contribute to long-term procurement transformation.
7. B-BBEE and Preferential Procurement:
- Develop and implement the Group's preferential procurement strategy, ensuring ongoing compliance with B-BBEE requirements and Group transformation targets.
- Educate and guide business units on B-BBEE principles, working closely with stakeholders to meet compliance goals and improve vendor diversity.
- Oversee the calculation and reporting of B-BBEE scores, working with internal and external parties to ensure accurate tracking and achievement of Level 1 status.
8. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
- Serve as an advisor to internal stakeholders, providing expert guidance on strategic sourcing, supplier management and procurement best practices.
- Build collaborative relationships across business units, ensuring that procurement is seen as a value-adding function.
- Lead cross-functional teams and engage with external stakeholders to support procurement initiatives.
9. Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and system enhancements within procurement operations.
- Drive innovation within the procurement function.
