Description

Our client, an IT company servicing the hospitality industry, is currently looking to hire an Onsite Support and Installation Technician based in George, Western Cape.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric is essential. 
  • A+ and / or N+ certification or equivalent technical experience. 
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in IT hardware support or onsite technical installations. 
  • POS, retail, or hospitality technology experience preferred. 

Responsibilities, but not limited to:

1.  Onsite Support and Troubleshooting: 

  • Provide onsite support for new installations or escalated support issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic hardware faults (e.g., printer failures, device disconnects, power issues).
  • Replace faulty components (e.g., power supplies, printers, terminals) when required.

2.  Hardware Installation & Hardware Setup:

  • Perform onsite installation and setup of POS hardware components onsite (terminals, printers, scanners, cash drawers, kitchen display systems, etc.).
  • Mount and connect devices to required peripherals (LAN, power, network switches).
  • Ensure that all POS devices are physically and technically operational prior to go-live.
  • Install and secure networking equipment.

3.  Onsite Configuration and Testing: 

  • Configure BIOS settings, network parameters (e.g., static IPs), printer paths, and display settings.
  • Load and configure POS client software (under guidance of internal team).
  • Conduct full onsite testing of hardware functionality before handover to support or client.

4.  Client Liaison and Go-Live Support:

  • Represent the company professionally while onsite.
  • Provide guidance and brief user orientation during go-live or handover stages (Occasionally). 
  • Communicate client concerns or potential risks to internal project/support teams.

5. Documentation and Feedback:

  • Accurately complete hardware installation and service checklists.
  • Log work completed (photos, notes, client sign-off) using the internal system or mobile app.
  • Report any irregularities or follow-up actions to the Installation Coordinator or Onsite Support and Installation Manager.

6. General:

  • Collect and return hardware stock from office as needed.
  • Maintain company-issued tools, devices, and vehicle (if applicable).
  • Participate in internal training or technical refreshers.
  • Assist during major upgrade or multi-site rollout projects.
