Our Client in the Chemical Industry (manufacturing), is seeking to employ an experienced Sales Representative to their team based in Cape Town.

Requirements:

  • Three years’ experience in a similar sales environment (essential).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (intermediate level preferred).
  • Excellent selling, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Own vehicle and valid driver’s license.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Good multitasking skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Bilingual (ability to speak two languages).

Responsibilities, but not limited to:

Business Development

  • Maintain a professional demeaner that upholds the brand’s reputation and business ethos.
  • Visit an average of ten clients per day. Complete and submit a weekly call report to the Sales Manager.
  • Prepare a client call planner to be followed and repeated on a 4-to-6-week cycle.
  • Monitor sales performance and gross profit activities regularly.
  • Present and sell products and services to both current and potential clients.
  • Follow up on new leads and referrals obtained through field activities.
  • Provide product demonstrations for new and existing clients.
  • Explore opportunities for upselling and expanding business within existing client accounts.
  • Consistently meet established sales targets.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Complete written service reports for clients where required and ensure they are discussed with the relevant stakeholders and submitted to the Sales Manager.
  • Ensure staff training is provided for all clients, and close out related administrative tasks such as training registers and training certificates.
  • Build strong relationships with key personnel within the client portfolio, such as buyers, general managers, chefs, and area managers.
  • Always deliver prompt and effective service and assistance.
  • Assist with customer deliveries in unforeseen circumstances.
  • Provide guidance on the most suitable products and their efficient use.
  • Manage account services by conducting quality checks and follow-ups.
  • Perform technical installations, repairs, and maintenance of equipment when necessary.
  • Demonstrate a consultative sales approach and use hands-on service to enhance value for the customer.
  • Offer emergency service support after hours when needed.
  • Build long-term customer relationships by offering innovative products, sales demonstrations, regular service visits, and ongoing training.
  • Learn about customers’ operations and develop tailored solutions based on expertise in cleaning and sanitation processes.

Communication and Feedback

  • Attend and actively participate in all sales meetings.
  • Share insights on new competitor products, developments in key accounts, and other relevant information gathered from the field with the Sales Manager.
  • Assist in providing accurate service report data to the Sales Manager.
  • Submit weekly sales and technical reports to the Sales Manager.
  • Follow data and communication policies at all times.
  • Use approved templates where available.
  • Adhere to established deadlines.

Administration Services

  • Support the Debtors department in following up on outstanding payments when required.
  • Ensure that new clients complete the necessary cash or credit application forms.
  • Maintain updated contact information for all clients.
  • Oversee product merchandising in the market and maintain consistent brand image elements such as stickers and wall charts.
  • Provide clients with prompt quotations within 24 hours of a visit and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are upheld at client sites in relation to product supply.
  • Conduct stock management and stocktaking activities as required.

Self-Development

  • Continuously expand product knowledge, particularly in chemicals, dosing equipment, and cleaning systems.
  • Stay informed of industry changes and trends.
  • Attend training courses offered as part of professional development.
  • Enhance selling skills through ongoing self-study and personal initiative.
