Our client, a well-established leader in the aged care sector in Port Elizabeth, dedicated to providing affordable, secure, and comfortable accommodation with compassionate care to qualifying retired individuals, is seeking to appoint an experienced Financial Accountant on a mornings only basis.
Job Purpose:
The Financial Accountant is responsible for the strategic financial planning, effective financial management and reporting, and compliance.
The incumbent will ensure the financial health of the organisation through robust governance, risk mitigation, and proactive management of all financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee the organisation’s financial affairs, ensuring sound financial decision-making and sustainability.
- Lead the design and implementation of financial management and reporting systems to maximise resource utilisation.
- Critically review monthly management reports, investigate variances, and ensure timely corrective actions are taken.
- Provide financial analysis and strategic advice to support executive decision-making and resource allocation.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the preparation and consolidation of the organisational budget in line with strategic objectives.
- Monitor budget adherence across all departments and implement controls to prevent over-expenditure.
- Drive continuous improvements in budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control processes.
3. Compliance, Risk & Governance
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, accounting standards, and internal policies.
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate financial risks; ensure robust internal controls are in place.
- Oversee organisational compliance with banking regulations and governance requirements.
- Act as the company’s Prescribed Officer in accordance with the Companies Act.
4. Cashflow & Revenue Management
- Maintain oversight of cashflow management, revenue recognition, and debtors’ control.
- Ensure efficient tracking and reconciliation of revenue and expenditure.
- Manage supplier relationships and lead contract negotiations and approvals.
5. External Audit & Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage and oversee preparation of year-end financials and coordinate in conjunction with external auditors.
- Analyse audited financial statements and present findings to the Board for approval.
- Maintain strong relationships with financial institutions, external auditors, and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 8–10 years’ financial experience, with at least 3 years in a senior role.
- Strong knowledge of South African financial legislation, compliance, and corporate governance.
- Proven experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Experience working with Boards / stakeholder engagement and external audit processes.
- Proven proficiency in Pastel and Microsoft Office, with extensive hands-on experience.

Salary Parameters:
- CTC commensurate with experience, skills, qualification and value-add contribution.
- Included in CTC : 9% Pension fund contribution / 5% employee contribution.
