Description

Our Client in the Manufacturing Industry is seeking to employ a Solar Operations and Maintenance Manager to their team based in Johannesburg, East Rand.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energies or a relevant technical qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the solar and renewable energy industry.
  • Proven background in project and contract management within Solar, PV and utility-scale projects.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines.
  • Previous experience with contract regulations and related laws (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years in a managerial role, leading teams and managing resources in dynamic environments.
  • Experience analysing and interpreting energy generation data, virtual PPAs, green tariffs and wholesale energy market data.
  • Ability to build and manage cross-functional relationships.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Suite, SAP, ERP systems, job-specific software).
  • Knowledge of business processes, quality management systems, processes and procedures.
  • Strong mathematics abilities and knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods.

Responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Manage turnkey project solutions as agreed with clients.
  • Oversee multiple projects of varying complexity, ensuring completion within timelines and budgets.
  • Maintain effective communication with customers, subcontractors and stakeholders.
  • Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices.
  • Purchase materials, manage inventory and oversee warehouse operations.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, environmental and SHEQ requirements.
  • Formulate strategic and operational objectives for solar projects.
  • Analyse financial data to improve profitability and manage budgets/forecasts.
  • Perform quality controls and monitor production KPIs.
  • Provide technical support for design, construction, commissioning and operation of solar sites.
  • Manage day-to-day site operations, maintenance, reporting and administration.
  • Supervise subcontractors and consultants to ensure quality, budget and schedule compliance.
  • Oversee NECR compliance and protect facility operating permits.
  • Implement and manage Environmental Management Systems.
  • Utilise CMMS systems for operations, maintenance, inspections and trend analysis.
  • Prepare annual operating plans, budgets and variance justifications.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Engineering teams to offer best-fit project solutions.
  • Coordinate and manage installation teams across multiple projects.
  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ, including risk assessments and safe equipment usage.
  • Attend customer meetings and presentations as required.
  • Submit progress and performance reports.
