Our Client, a leader in the Chemical Supply Industry, is seeking to employ an Service Technician to their team based in Cape Town.
The appointed Service Technician will be based on-site at a clients operation in Epping, Cape Town; managing the chemicals and servicing the equipment (industrial laundry machines).

Requirements:
- Experience in the installation and maintenance of laundry dosing equipment.
- Experience in the installation and maintenance of dish machines and chemical dosing units.
- Knowledge of programming laundry machines.
- Knowledge of maintenance and repairs of industrial dishwashers.
- Ability to roll up sleeves and work collaboratively with team members.
- Keen eye for detail and strong analytical skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
- Intermediate computer literacy in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and virtual programs (MS Teams, Zoom).
- Presentable with excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to produce accurate results within prescribed deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities, but not limited to:
Chemical Stock Room:
- Ensure chemical storage areas are always neat and tidy.
- Pack stock into relevant allocated areas upon receipt.
- Ensure proper stock rotation and storage of detergents.
- Keep accurate records of all stock received.
- Return all empty containers and maintain corresponding records.
- Record detergents issued to departments such as Stock Tanks, Spotting Room, Guest Laundry, Garments, and Hospitality.
- Conduct and submit weekly stock counts.
In-Plant Chemicals – Mixing Tanks, 200L and 25L Drums:
- Perform daily checks to ensure chemical mixing tanks and dosing pumps are in good working order.
- Report abnormalities and repair where possible.
- Ensure sufficient chemical stock to supply the plant by mixing stock solutions and transferring to holding tanks.
- Check and replace 200L and 25L drums as necessary.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices and ensure waste is properly disposed of.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety requirements and wear PPE when applicable.
- Wash and clean chemical mixing tanks weekly.
- Wipe down and clean chemical dosing equipment weekly.
- Confirm alkalinity of stock solutions after every mix and record results.
- Inspect feed and delivery lines regularly for leaks or wear and replace when needed.
Chemical Flow Rates and Alkalinities:
- Check and record flow rates of diaphragm and peristaltic pumps monthly.
- Replace worn tubes as required.
- Conduct pH and alkalinity readings of incoming recycled water three times daily and record results.
- Perform daily alkalinity checks on Continuous Batch Washers (CBWs) for Garment and Hospitality departments.
- Conduct weekly alkalinity checks on 200kg Milnor washers.
- Perform monthly flow rate and alkalinity checks on smaller washer extractors and replace worn tubes as needed.
General Duties:
- Monitor the quality of washed linen and garments daily and report abnormalities.
- Verify that machine operators are using correct wash programs.
- Perform and record regular reflectometer readings on linen.
- Maintain a respectful, honest, and dedicated attitude toward customers and staff.
Ad Hoc Duties:
- Assist with additional technical duties or work off-site when required.
