Our Client in the Hospitality and Entertainment Industry is seeking to employ a General Manager to their team based in Port Elizabeth.
Requirements:
• Proven experience in hospitality, restaurant, or entertainment management. • Strong background in event planning, marketing, or promotions. • Excellent leadership and people management skills. • Sound understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. • Knowledge of health, safety, and food hygiene regulations. • Experience in stock control, procurement, and supplier relations. • Ability to analyse performance data and implement operational improvements. • Exceptional organisational and multitasking abilities. • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. • Proficiency in POS and inventory management systems (e.g., Pilot or similar). • Creative mindset with the ability to generate innovative sales and marketing ideas. • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high service standards. • Relevant qualification in hospitality management, business management, or a related field (advantageous). • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Responsibilities, but not limited to:
• Plan and execute all events from start to finish. • Coordinate and schedule artists and DJs. • Increase corporate bookings through direct marketing, achieving a minimum of four bookings per month. • Provide weekly and monthly event updates to management and the marketing/social media team. • Attend weekly management meetings and report on monthly KPIs. • Conduct quarterly company culture talks and lead management team training sessions. • Develop and implement innovative ideas to increase sales and customer traffic. • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene standards. • Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for maintenance, labour, and food and beverage costs. • Monitor and control expenses, labour costs, and inventory levels to meet profit targets. • Analyse management reports and address GRVs, waste, voids, and breakages. • Maintain high standards of guest service through continuous staff training and reviews. • Collaborate with marketing teams to design and execute promotional campaigns and events. • Identify market trends and implement strategies for growth and customer engagement. • Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, vendors, and suppliers. • Conduct quarterly menu reviews, including costing and adjustments. • Assist HR with recruitment and training of staff. • Manage all operational staff, including bar, waitrons, runners, and maintenance teams. • Oversee stock take, wastage, breakage, and ensure fridges and bars are stocked before trading hours. • Manage storerooms, POS systems, and supplier orders. • Process GRV invoices and prepare monthly income statements. • Conduct monthly inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and quality standards. • Negotiate supplier contracts to ensure best value. • Plan and execute weekly specials, supplier activations, and in-house promotions. • Oversee waste management and recycling initiatives.
