Accountant – Port Elizabeth

Our client, a well-established organisation within the manufacturing sector, is seeking to employ a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join their Finance team based in Port Elizabeth.

Requirements:

• BCom Degree or BTech in Financial Accounting / Internal Auditing (essential).

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an accounting role.

• Previous experience within a manufacturing environment (essential).

• Strong IT and systems knowledge.

• Experience using JD Edwards (JDE) (advantageous).

• CIMA qualification (advantageous).

• Valid driver’s licence.

• Excellent communication skills.

• High attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

1. Financial Accounting & Reporting:

   • Prepare and post standard journals for monthly management accounts.

   • Reconcile all general ledger accounts using MS Excel by the 10th working day of each month.

   • Upload financial statements onto reporting systems as required.

2. Tax, VAT & Statutory Reporting:

   • Prepare VAT returns and perform reconciliations.

   • Confirm inter-company balances with other branches.

   • Prepare tax packs and upload to the relevant platforms.

   • Complete statutory reports, including industry questionnaires.

3. Budgeting & Forecasting:

   • Upload annual budgets and quarterly forecasts onto financial systems.

   • Prepare statutory notes and supporting documentation.

4. Cost Analysis & Support:

   • Prepare fixed cost and transport analysis for management.

   • Compile petty cash files and supporting schedules for review.

5. General Finance Support:

   • Perform ad hoc financial and administrative duties as required.

   • Support the Financial Manager with reporting and compliance tasks.
