Our client in the Logistics Industry, based in Camperdown, KwaZulu-Natal is currently looking to employ an Assistant Planner to their team.

Requirements:

• 3–5 years’ experience in logistics planning or fleet operations
• Strong understanding of route planning, fleet utilisation, and driver management
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail
• Experience in vehicle logistics or automotive supply chain
• Knowledge of national distribution networks
• Understanding of transport regulations and permits

Responsibilities:

Planning and Dispatch Control

• Manage vehicle releases and ensure planning within 24 hours
• Ensure dispatch within 48 hours
• Meet OEM delivery lead times

National Coordination

• Coordinate vehicle movements across all provinces
• Ensure alignment between depots and national operations

Load Planning and Optimisation

• Plan cost-effective and efficient loads
• Maximise carrier capacity and minimise handling and damages
• Ensure optimal routing and limited stops per trip

Fleet Utilisation and Compliance

• Ensure correct load weights and prevent overloading
• Maximise legal capacity and fleet usage
• Ensure compliance with transport regulations and permits

Operational Efficiency and Risk Control

• Incorporate maintenance and workshop planning
• Ensure clear, accurate, and executable plans
• Minimise risks and prevent vehicle damages

Dispatch and Delivery Performance

• Ensure on-time departures and deliveries
• Replace delayed carriers immediately
• Maintain continuous operational flow

Driver and Load Management

• Ensure fair load distribution across drivers
• Support driver wellness and balanced scheduling
• Minimise idle time and improve productivity

Stakeholder and Team Collaboration

• Work closely with drivers, team leaders, and planners
• Support cross-functional coordination
• Drive performance through realistic planning targets

Performance Monitoring

• Track delivery performance, efficiency, and turnaround times
• Ensure consistent service delivery aligned with standards
