Our client in the Legal Services industry is seeking to employ a Professional Assistant / Junior Associate Attorney to join their team based in Gqeberha.

Requirements:

  • LLB / BCom LLB / BA LLB qualification.
  • Admitted Attorney of the High Court with right of appearance and at least 1 year of post-articles experience.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet prescribed deadlines.
  • Admission as a Notary will be advantageous.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification preferred
  • Legal Secretarial Diploma or relevant qualification
  • Experience in a law firm or corporate legal environment
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar Legal Secretary / PA role
  • Proven experience as a Legal Secretary, Legal PA, or similar role
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology and documentation
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with legal software/document management systems (advantageous)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Professional, reliable, and able to maintain strict confidentiality

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Provide full secretarial and administrative support to attorneys/partners and the Managing Director
  • Act as the primary gatekeeper to the Managing Director, managing access, priorities, and communications
  • Manage diaries, schedule meetings, and coordinate appointments
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and itineraries
  • Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and reports
  • Maintain and organise legal files (both digital and physical)
  • Assist with document management systems and filing deadlines
  • Draft basic legal documents and correspondence where required
  • Handle client communication professionally (emails, calls, in-person)
  • Liaise with courts, counsel, and other external stakeholders
  • Manage billing, timesheets, and expense tracking
  • Ensure confidentiality of all legal and client information
