Our client in the Financial Services and Insurance industry is seeking to employ an IT Data Architect to join their team based in Sandton, Gauteng.

Requirements:
Relevant 3–4 year IT or Business qualification (BCom, BSc, or equivalent) Microsoft/Azure certifications (advantageous) Minimum 7 years' enterprise data architecture experience Proven experience delivering large-scale cloud and hybrid data platforms Minimum 5 years' experience within the insurance or financial services industry Strong Azure data platform expertise (Azure SQL, Synapse, Cosmos DB, Data Lake, Data Factory, Databricks) Advanced data modelling experience (dimensional, star/snowflake schemas, semantic layers) Experience with data governance, Master Data Management (MDM), data quality, and observability frameworks Power BI and automation tools experience Cloud security and compliance knowledge, including POPIA and GDPR Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), and automated data pipelines Strong understanding of large-volume, multi-data lake environments Excellent analytical, communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
Responsibilities:
Design and implement scalable Azure-based enterprise data platforms Develop conceptual, l ogical, and physical data models Lead cloud data modernization and migration initiatives Establish and enforce enterprise data governance standards Ensure compliance with POPIA, GDPR, and internal governance frameworks Deliver business intelligence and analytics solutions using Power BI and Azure technologies Architect integrations across Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and Dynamics 365 Implement CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code, and automated data workflows Develop and maintain enterprise data quality and observability frameworks Monitor platform performance, lineage, and reliability using Azure monitoring tools Collaborate with architecture, engineering, and business teams Mentor junior architects and contribute to architecture governance forums Drive continuous improvement and adoption of modern cloud technologies
