Description Requirements:
  • Grade 12 / Matric Certificate.
  • Minimum NQF Level 4 qualification in Short-Term Insurance.
  • Class of Business certification (Commercial Lines).
  • RE5 Representative Examination completed.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Commercial Underwriting within the Short-Term Insurance industry.
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance products and policy structures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Professional, client-centric approach with strong attention to detail.
Advantageous Experience:
Candidates with experience working on any of the following insurer and underwriting platforms will be highly advantageous:

Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Underwriting
  • Administer and manage a portfolio of commercial insurance policies.
  • Obtain quotations, compare policy benefits, and prepare recommendations for clients.
  • Process new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and policy amendments.
  • Review client risk profiles and ensure appropriate cover is maintained.
  • Liaise with insurers and underwriters regarding policy requirements and risk acceptance.
  • Ensure underwriting activities comply with regulatory and company requirements.
Policy Administration
  • Maintain accurate policy records and client documentation.
  • Ensure all policy schedules, endorsements, and correspondence are issued timeously.
  • Monitor renewal dates and proactively engage clients regarding renewals.
  • Process premium adjustments and policy amendments accurately.
  • Maintain high levels of administrative accuracy and compliance.
Claims Administration
  • Assist clients with the claims process from notification through to settlement.
  • Gather supporting documentation and liaise with insurers and assessors.
  • Monitor claim progress and provide regular updates to clients.
  • Ensure claims are handled professionally and efficiently to achieve positive client outcomes.
Client Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers, and service providers.
  • Provide professional advice and support regarding insurance products and policy cover.
  • Respond promptly to client queries and requests.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance client retention and service delivery.
Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with FAIS legislation, FICA requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Maintain accurate client records and supporting documentation.
  • Adhere to company operating standards, service level agreements, and internal procedures.
  • Stay informed of industry developments, product changes, and legislative updates.
