Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12.
- Diploma or Degree in Business Management, Retail Management, Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain or a related discipline.
- Additional qualifications in Health & Safety, Facilities Management, Retail Fuel Operations or Finance would be advantageous.
- Minimum of 10 years' senior management experience within one or more of the following sectors:
- Retail petroleum and fuel operations
- Service stations and truck stop management
- Retail or convenience store operations
- Logistics, transport depots or fleet operations
- Multi-site or multi-department operational management
- Demonstrated experience managing large teams, multiple business units and operational budgets.
- Strong commercial and financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control and profitability management.
- Knowledge of retail POS systems, fuel management systems, CCTV and access control technologies.
- Experience using WinBranch, NAMOS and SAP Retail systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Office 365 proficiency.
- Sound understanding of South African labour legislation and MIBCO regulations.
- Strong leadership, organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to operational emergencies when required.
- High levels of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.
Responsibilities: Strategic and Operational Leadership
- Provide overall leadership and direction for all operational areas of the transportation hub.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of fuel operations, retail facilities, food outlets, truck parking, accommodation and supporting infrastructure.
- Develop and implement operational strategies that improve efficiency, profitability and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure the facility consistently delivers world-class service standards.
Financial and Commercial Management
- Manage the overall operational budget and financial performance of the hub.
- Monitor revenue, expenditure, profitability and key financial performance indicators.
- Drive revenue growth across all business units.
- Oversee procurement, cost control, cash management, reconciliations and audit compliance.
- Identify new commercial opportunities to maximise facility utilisation and profitability.
People Leadership
- Lead, mentor and develop departmental managers and operational teams.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, succession planning and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation, company policies and MIBCO agreements.
- Build and maintain constructive relationships with organised labour, including NUM representatives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.
Customer and Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with transport operators, fleet owners, customers, franchise partners, suppliers and service providers.
- Ensure exceptional customer service standards are maintained across the facility.
- Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, municipal departments and industry stakeholders where required.
Stock and Asset Management
- Oversee inventory management across fuel, retail and food service operations.
- Monitor stock levels, ordering, stock rotation and stock takes.
- Minimise shrinkage and investigate inventory variances.
- Safeguard all company assets and operational equipment.
Contract and Franchise Management
- Manage lease agreements and contractual obligations.
- Ensure franchise partners consistently comply with brand and operational standards.
- Monitor third-party contractors and service providers to ensure agreed service levels are achieved.
Systems and Technology
- Oversee the effective operation of POS systems, fuel management platforms, CCTV, access control and operational reporting systems.
- Ensure compliance with company IT governance, cybersecurity and data protection standards.
Risk, Compliance and Governance
- Ensure full compliance with all legislative, environmental, health and safety requirements.
- Lead internal audits, operational risk assessments and emergency response planning.
- Implement proactive risk mitigation and business continuity strategies.
- Promote a culture of ethical leadership, governance and regulatory compliance.
Integrity and Professional Conduct
- Maintain strict confidentiality of company, client and commercial information.
- Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and ethical conduct.
- Ensure all company policies, procedures and governance standards are consistently applied throughout the operation.
