Description Requirements:
  • Grade 12 Certificate (NQF 4)
  • QCTO Red Seal Electrician - is a must
  • Wireman’s License - is a must 
  • National Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (NQF 6) – advantageous
  • AREP / SAPVIA PV Green Card certification – preferred
  • Up to 3 years’ Solar Installation experience (Both roof and ground mount systems)
  • Solar experience is a must
  • Experience in micro and string inverters and setting up monitoring systems
  • Computer Literacy (MS Office Suite – Advanced Excel)
  • Other relevant discipline-specific software programs such as: Windows 10; ERP Systems; and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Sound exposure in solar inverter testing (UPS and Rectifier) and PCB replacement
  • Knowledge on reading lithium battery BMS data via USB – RS232 / RS485 comms cable and upload to PC (screen clips and saving data)
  • Ability to analyse and mark Excel data for BMS alarms and protection events

Responsibilities:
  • Installation of solar installations and commissioning the photovoltaic system from beginning to end.
  • Liaises with the Project Supervisor: Industrial to review project plans and drawings.
  • Ensures that the project is built according to design.
  • Set up solar monitoring system.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues.
  • Assemble the solar array racking, properly seal all roof penetrations, and install all relevant equipment.
  • Installations will include residential, light commercial grid-tied photovoltaic systems, as well as large scale industrial and IPP scoped project installations.
  • Report to, coordinate and collaborate with the Installation Supervisor and Engineering department to install all photovoltaic system components.
  • Ensure installations and outcomes are documented / recorded.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable specifications and requirements.
  • Maintain Operations and Maintenance.
  • Ensure outbound logistical process efficiency through prompt repairs.
  • Ensure inbound logistical process efficiency through prompt returns.
  • Comply with manuals and instructions of process requirements.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction / positive feedback is received on services rendered.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures to prevent fruitless, wasteful and irregular expenditure.
  • Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control, with emphasis on safety.
  • Ensure that all installations meet industry standards and codes, SANS and the original design and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Report risks to the Project Supervisor.
  • Ensure availability of documentation and records.
  • Monitor cost and expenditure and minimize waste.
  • Communicate with customers in a professional manner.
  • Ensure that the project is within the budget.
  • Work with crew members to complete projects within established timeframes, policies and procedures.
